Do-It-Yourself Fiberglass Repair on Jet Ski Hull
Damage to the hull on a personal watercraft (or jet ski) is a common occurrence for many people. Here is a handy guide to help jet ski owners easily perform DIY repairs.
Even the most cautious rider can easily scrape or chip the hull or may even notice stress cracks beginning to form in the high impact areas.
MagicEzy has made the job of repairing scrapes and chips to the hull easy, thanks to their innovative DIY gelcoat and fiberglass repair products.
Below you will find a demonstration video, a step by step guide and real repair photos.
How to DO FIBERGLASS REPAIR IN a jet ski hull
Tools required:
- 1 x tube of MagicEzy Hairline Fix (12.9ml / 0.43floz)
- 1 x tube of MagicEzy Mega Fusion (12.9ml / 0.43floz)
- 1 x tube of MagicEzy 9 Second Chip Fix (12.9ml / 0.43floz)
- Hairdryer
- Tissues
- Soapy water
- Clean water
Before you begin, decide which MagicEzy products to use:
For cavities, gouges or holes, use MagicEzy 9 Second Chip Fix, which is a medium density filler that cures to a matte finish. Available in 11 colors including black (Midnight).
For stress cracks, shallow scratches or shallow scrapes, then use MagicEzy Hairline Fix. Hairline Fix is more fluid in consistency compared to 9 Second Chip Fix and cures to a gloss finish. It can also be used as a final top-coat over 9 second chip fix repairs to achieve a shiny finish.
For damage near / around the waterline, on areas exposed to shearing forces or on plastic / aluminium surfaces, we suggest using a priming coat of MagicEzy Mega Fusion before applying either Hairline Fix or 9 Second Chip Fix. Mega Fusion will penetrate into the pores of the surface to create even more bond and strength.
Step 1
Clean the area to be repaired with soapy water. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry thoroughly.
Step 2
For chips and gouges, apply a priming coat of MagicEzy Mega Fusion, ensuring the damaged area is completely covered with a thin layer. Set with a hair dryer for 2 minutes and let stand for approximately 2 hours.
Step 3
Once the Mega Fusion has dried, slightly overfill the cavity with 9 Second Chip Fix and level off using the scraper end of the tube. Clean the scraper with a tissue and trim any excess MagicEzy using the scraper again. Set with a hair dryer for 2 minutes and let stand for approximately 2 hours. If required, apply a second layer of 9 Second Chip Fix.
Step 4
If a rich, glossy finish is desired, apply a top-coat of Hairline fix over the 9 Second Chip Fix repair. Use the the scraper end of the tube to spread the Hairline Fix. For inverted or upside down areas, a 50mm foam roller and hairdryer may be helpful. In this instance, squirt the Hairline Fix onto the foam roller and begin to roll over the area. Whilst doing this, simultaneously blow warm air from a hairdryer to prevent dripping and help the cure process.
Step 5
To repair any stress cracks, use MagicEzy Hairline Fix as per product instructions.
Step 6
Remove any excess using a tissue or damp cloth.
Step 7
If more coats are required, wait at least 2 hours before reapplying. If temperatures are expected to drop below 20C / 70F, blow a warm hairdryer over the completed repair for about 2 minutes.
Cure time:
Although the repair will appear firm and dry after 24-48 hours, it will continue to strengthen and harden over the next 2 to 4 weeks. Avoid getting the repair wet for 14 days (If necessary, cover area with a temporary shield. Eg. plastic bag, sealed with electrical tape )
Notes:
- MagicEzy 9 Second Chip Fix Midnight color (black), being a filler, cures to a matte finish, which can appear dark grey. If a rich black, glossy finish is required, then a top-coat of MagicEzy Hairline Fix (Midnight) is also required over the 9 Second Chip Fix repair.
- MagicEzy is recommended for above waterline repairs. Some customers have reported excellent results using MagicEzy in different situations.

I have a jet ski that has beaching ware on the hull that is down to the foam. I would like to purchase your product but not exactly sure what to order
Hi Boh,
The damage sounds similar to the sand scrapes on the lower hull damage on the above video.
If your Jetski has a gelcoat hull you can simply and easily repair it with MagicEzy Hairline Fix which can be found at https://magicezy.com/hairline-fix/
HOWEVER if the hull is a type of plastic it needs the extra bonding strength of Magicezy Mega Fusion two hours before.. (details can be found at https://magicezy.com/mega-fusion/ then you can apply MagicEzy Hairline Fix over the top. We recommend the repair be applied 2 or 3 weeks before the summer or after the summer use. Prefer the second so it dries longer and totally hardens.
We hope this helps. If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to email info@magicezy.com
Wishing you all the best
I have the same problem from driving up on the beach. Witch product would I need and how much (1997 seado gtx)
Hi Ethan,
If the damage to your jetski is only light scrapes, I would suggest you use Hairline Fix (in the best colour for your jetski – there are 10 to choose from) see https://magicezy.com/hairline-fix/ which dries to a gloss finish
If the damage is quite deep I would suggest you use 9 Second Chip Fix – see https://magicezy.com/9-second-chip-fix however keep in mind this product does dry to a matte finish. If you need a gloss finish you can apply a top coat of Hairline Fix as these products are fully compatible with eachother.
Our products are available to purchase from your local BCF store, or you can buy online from Nanotech Repairs – see https://www.nanotechrepairs.com/

My jet ski has dimples and bubbles caused by setting in the water too long. Will your products allow me to fix this?
Hi Robert,
Are you able to send us photos of the problem so we can have a better idea of what to recommend? Please email info@magicezy.com
Thank you and all the best
Will the product work on all types of jet ski hulls? Specifically, I have a 2016 Yamaha VX Limited. TX
Hi Michael,
Yes our products will work on all types of surfaces as long as you follow the steps in the video and ensure you prime the area with MagicEzy Mega Fusion before the repair to ensure strong adhesion.
You can then apply 9 Second Chip Fix and/or Hairline Fix over the top of the primer depending on how deep your damage is and whether you are looking for a matte or gloss finish.
Use 9 Second Chip Fix if you have deeper damage and require chips or gouges to be filled – this dries to a Matte finish. You can then apply Hairline Fix over the top of the repair to create a gloss finish or you can apply Hairline Fix directly over the top of the Mega Fusion if you are simply wanting to give a gloss finish and there are no deep chips or gouges.
I hope this help, please feel free to email us at info@magicezy.com if you have any further questions,
Wishing you all the best
Hi, our jet ski slipped off the trailer in rough seas and dipped the front and bumped the front, we now have a gouge going along the front of the bow scraping the white off and exposing the silver below, what would you recommend to sort this please?
Hi Jen,
With a repair as deep as you have described I would suggest you follow the above instructions exactly, so you will need to complete the three step process using Mega Fusion to prime the area, 9 Second Chip Fix to Fill the gouge and then a top coat of Hairline Fix for a gloss finish.
All of our products can be purchased online from http://www.nanotechrepairs.com/
I hope this helps, best of luck with the repair
HI Michael,
Most jetski hulls are easily repaired and your repairs are guaranteed for 3 years. First watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tb2OBi1iheE
You will need Magicezy MegaFusion to prime the area for 2hours. If chipped (>6mm), you will need MagicEzy 9 Second Chip Fix which then needs MagicEzy Hairline Fix for final gloss finishing.

Our 2018 Yamaha came loose on its lift when 5’ waves came up and crashed it on the rocks. Multiple punctures and cracks on the hull. Is it salvageable with your product?
Thank you.
Hi Joe, yes, MagicEzy products could definitely help you with your punctures and crack hull repairs. The MagicEzy 9 Second Chip Fix is designed to work as a filler for deep chips, cracks and holes (>6mm or, 1/4 inch) hence, it’s matte. To achieve a glossy finish, you must apply MagicEzy Hairline Fix (also used for small hairline cracks) as a top coat. Also note that the Mega Fusion primer is recommended for plastic or, aluminum surface in order to have stronger adhesion. This may be needed before you apply either 9 Second Chip Fix/Hairline Fix.
